6 Children Injured at Del Mar School

Six children were injured at Del Mar Heights Elementary School after a vehicle jumped a curb and hit the children.  According to a story in the San Diego Union Tribune, three of the children were seriously injured after a driver panicked when she struck another vehicle and hit the gas instead of the brake.  The driver is 70 years old according to the story.

A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in City Heights on Wednesday.  According to the San Diego Tribune, the driver ran from the scene after striking the pedestrian around 10:00 a.m.  The victim was taken to a hospital.

Two Teachers Arrested from South LA School

Two teacher from Miramonte Elementary School in south Los Angeles have been arrested.  The arrests have stunned parents in the community and garnered national attention.

The first teacher, Mark Berndt is accused of lewd acts as a result of feeding semen to blindfolded children.  Police have reported collecting hundreds of disturbing photos surrounding the event.

A second teacher, Martin Springer, was arrested three days later for allegedly touching two students improperly in his classroom at the same school.  The students were allegedly 7 years old when the incident occurred.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports that a former coach at La Jolla Country Day School is facing sexual abuse charges.  Prosecutors charged Vijay Prasad with 13 felony counts that could lead to up to 11 years in prison for an inappropriate relationship with a teenage student.  The story is here.
