Penn State Sexual Abuse Scandal

Penn State has been absolutely rocked by a sexual abuse scandal this week.  According to reports at ESPN, two high-ranking officials inside of the athletic department have been arraigned for lying to a grand jury and failing to report alleged child sex abuse.  Multiple stories and videos are linked here.

The athletic director and senior vice president for business and finance were arraigned.  The story arises sexual abuse allegations made against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who at one time was believed to be a potential replacement for head coach Joe Paterno.  Reports at espn.com reflect that Sandusky was arrested for sexually assaulting young boys he met through a charity he founded for at-risk youths.  One of the most shocking allegations made in the string of stories is that a student claimed to have seen Sandusky assaulting a child in a locker room and reported this to head coach Joe Paterno, who then reported this to the athletic director.  Noticeably, no one appears to have reported any of this to the police.
